You’re Ghana Want to Attend This Event!

Newfoundland and Labrador is Canada’s eastern-most province.

Did you know that Newfoundland and Labrador is home to a vibrant Ghanaian community?   We are excited to see it grow!

Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador has world-class education programs at affordable costs. Ghanaians began arriving in Newfoundland and Labrador to study more than two decades ago, and over the years, many Ghanaians have settled long-term all over Newfoundland and Labrador.

“Ghana is in the top 3 source countries for international students at Memorial University.  And Ghanaian students are amongst our brightest and most successful undergraduate and graduate students”, — Andrew Kim, Memorial University’s University Lead for Enrolment Innovation.

Since 2017, Ghanaians have begun teaching in our schools and settling long-term in our communities, and we couldn’t be happier! Newfoundland and Labrador has many small rural communities faced with a critical shortage of teachers and Early Childhood Educators. Ghanaians have helped meet this labour market demand: more than 60 Ghanaians have recently become eligible to teach in our primary and secondary public education system.

From January 20 – 30, Memorial University and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador will be in Ghana, visiting students and prospective teachers like you!  If you’re a student at University of Education Winneba, University of Cape Coast, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, ValleyView University or University of Ghana, ask your faculty how you can meet with us!

If you are an alumni from the above institutions and a trained teacher or ECE, please feel free to reach out to the faculties above for more information about our visit!
